I'm running the NYC Marathon for Answer The Call, inspired by my family's deep commitment to service and in memory of my Uncle, Suffolk County Police Officer John "Jack" Jantzen. He served for six years before being tragically killed on April 21st, 1991, leaving behind his wife and their infant son, Jak.
Today, Jak proudly carries on his father's legacy, serving in the Suffolk County Police Department's Marine Bureau – just like his dad – and wearing his father's badge number. While our family has included seven police officers and firefighters, our dedication to community runs broader, with members also serving as Suffolk County employees, teachers, and healthcare professionals.
It's this spirit of service, and especially the sacrifice made by first responders like Uncle Jackie, that motivates me to support Answer The Call. They provide crucial help to the families of heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
