A MESSAGE FROM Trudee Wiltshire’s Race for Recovery
HIIII friends, family, loved ones, and maybe strangers too! Surprise (but not really because I've been talking about it so much for like two years now) - I'm running the New York City Marathon!
As you've surely heard, I have found an unexpected joy in running over the last several years, particularly since I began my recovery from alcoholism in May of 2022. Running has become an integral way for me to maintain my sobriety and show love to my body and mind after many years of treating myself with anything but kindness.
When I spectated the NYC Marathon in 2023, I knew immediately it was something I had to experience as a runner. I've never felt a better high than the one I got from the energy on the streets of New York as tens of thousands of people pushed themselves through those iconic 26.2 miles, each with their own unique story to tell.
I knew a time qualification was unrealistic, and the lottery was not something I could bank on, so a charity bib was always my planned route. I knew I'd be looking to run with an organization that helps others recover from addiction struggles like myself so I could help pay back these gifts that were so freely given to me. I'm so thrilled for the opportunity to do just that with Release Recovery Foundation this year, and I appreciate any contribution you'll consider making toward my fundraising target of $6K.
Please note: If you would like to contribute via Venmo (I get it - I hate putting in my card info on contribution pages too), my username is just @Trudee and I will transfer 100% of the contribution to this page and record it in your name! Just let me know in the Venmo comment or via text. Same applies for cashapp; my username is $TrudeeWiltshire.
If you are unable to financially contribute, I also take payment in the form of verbal or written encouragement! And as ALWAYS, if you are struggling with addiction or love someone who is, I am always here to chat. Thank you for being you.
