A MESSAGE FROM Walking 250 Days for Nyaka's 25 Years
Twenty-five years ago, Nyaka began with a simple promise to the children and grandmothers of my home community in Uganda. Every year, I take on a personal physical challenge to honor that promise. I have run the New York City Marathon three times, and last year I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. This year, to celebrate 25 years of impact, I am walking for 250 days. And I am inviting you to join me, in whatever way you can.
While our Team Nyaka runners train all year and take on the NYC Marathon this November, our children, grandmothers, and staff in Uganda will be walking and running their own marathon on the very same day. Each year we wake up in NYC on marathon morning as the community in Uganda is finishing their marathon event and the photos always bring tears of joy. So special to have one big Nyaka family, moving together across the world.
You are already here, so start by making a donation of any size and leaving a note to cheer me on. Share words of encouragement, or tell me the personal challenge you are setting out to do. Walk for 25 minutes. Run 2.5 miles. Cycle for 25 days. Swim, hike, golf, play soccer, or dream up something all your own, wherever you are in the world. Every gift and every step is a show of solidarity with me, with our Team Nyaka runners, and most importantly with our children and grandmothers in Uganda. I will be reading every note as I walk. Let's celebrate 25 years by moving together.
Webale Munonga, thank you, my friend.
