Addressing Chronic Disease in NYC
The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is the non-profit partner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. We innovate and scale public health solutions to combat chronic disease, maternal health
inequities, COVID-19, mental illness, drug overdose, and other challenges to the health and wellbeing of 8.8. million New Yorkers.
In 2023, the City of New York launched HealthyNYC, a comprehensive campaign to increase life
expectancy to exceed 83 years by 2030. The chronic and diet-related disease
goals established by HealthyNYC include reducing deaths due to heart- and
diabetes-related diseases by 5% by 2030 and deaths due to screenable cancers by
20% by 2030. In 2025 the NYC Health Department released a detailed strategy to reach these goals.
The money raised will help raise funds to
expand this strategy and support programs that improve access to essential
resources like affordable, nutritious foods, health screenings, and outdoor
recreation.
FPHNYC is thrilled to be an Official Charity Partner of
the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon! On November 2nd, 2025, over
50,000 runners from across the world will race through all five boroughs! Last
year, our team raised over $50,000 to support public health in NYC!
