Founded in 1944, we have grown into one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive no‑kill rescue and adoption organizations. From our headquarters in Port Washington, N.Y., we work with more than 2,000 shelter and rescue partners across the country and around the globe, creating a lifesaving network that reaches animals wherever the need is greatest. Every day, our teams respond to urgent situations, provide critical medical care, and give animals the second chances they deserve.

Since 2008, athletes running for Team Animal League in events like the TCS NYC Marathon and the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon have raised nearly $2.4 million to support of our lifesaving work!
