We’re running to save babies lives.

 

First Candle is proud to be an official charity partner of the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon!  We are committed to ending Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), while also providing bereavement support to families who have experienced the death of their baby from SUID or Stillbirth.

 

Every year over 3700 babies die from SUID, that means the equivalent of a kindergarten class of children are dying every month. Many of these deaths can be prevented by educating everyone caring for a baby on life-saving safe sleep practices.

 

Through our community-led initiatives we’re doing just that.  Our Let’s Talk Community Chats grassroots program mobilizes teams of our safe sleep facilitators to meet with families within communities across the country, providing support for breastfeeding, education on safe sleep and offering much needed items such as diapers, portable cribs and swaddles.  

 

For grieving families, we provide a 24hr grief line, online support groups and peer support volunteers.
