This fall, the three of us will be running the 2025 TCS NYC Marathon with the Release Recovery Foundation Team. This race is not just about the miles for us—it's about giving someone the opportunity that was afforded to Sam and to our family.
Addiction is a tough hand to be dealt and its impact extends far beyond just one person. It is felt by family and friends, schools and entire communities. There’s a ripple effect felt by millions of people on a daily basis and the unfortunate truth is that the vast majority of people who need treatment simply aren’t able to get it. Whether that’s because of financial strain, a lack of awareness or limited access, the barrier exists for far too many.
The Release Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all who are ready and willing to seek professional treatment are able to do so. Substance Use Disorder and mental illness destroy the lives of too many people who may not have the resources for proven treatments. The Release Recovery Foundation offers scholarships to bridge the gap between what people can afford and what they need in order to transform their lives.
Recovery is a journey that takes grit, persistence, and support. Every donation, no matter the size, helps someone in need take the next step to a better life. The recovery community has shown our family a degree of love and generosity that many never see. We’re going to change that.
Keep going.
