A MESSAGE FROM Team Beneducci Against Brain Cancer
Team Beneducci will be running the 2025 New York City Marathon on behalf of the Brain Tumor Foundation to remember Joe Beneducci who passed away December 6, 2024 after a 4 year battle with Glioblastoma, a rare but the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Our team is looking for donors willing to support a tremendous cause.
Joe Beneducci was an incredible inspiration and motivator to all that knew him. In 56 years, he left his mark on this world in a way that we are all truly better for. Through his contagious positivity and passionate work ethic, he was able to accomplish incredible things and make the lives of those around him all the better. His life was full and he constantly made that very clear to those close to him. He will certainly be missed, but his spirit lives on in all of us through the experiences and moments we were lucky enough to share with him.
While his two greatest obsessions were always his family and his work colleagues, his third was fitness. Whether it was a 100 mile bike ride on a Saturday morning or just playing (questionably high intensity) basketball in the driveway with his four children, Joe always loved pushing the limits of his fitness. From his early years playing soccer, basketball and baseball, all the way up through going on runs daily runs after receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments, his health was always a priority.
Although he watched the race on television every year and always had aspirations of running in it, Joe's priorities were always elsewhere. He never had the opportunity to run in the New York City Marathon. To honor his impact on all that knew him, his four children and a collection of their close friends, will be running the race this November on his behalf. As the team finishes in central park on a gorgeous fall day, it will truly be a special moment as we know he will be proudly watching down on us with his radiant smile.
We hope to carry forward his attitude and tremendously positive outlook on life to motivate others to do something special with their time here on Earth. As Joe always believed, it is never about the magnitude of your impact, it is about the relentless pursuit of having one. Through our fundraising and race efforts, we want to illustrate the light at the end of the tunnel for those impacted by brain tumors. Although he is no longer physically here, the beauty of the time we were able to spend as family and friends is far more powerful than the darkness that arrived at the time of his brain tumor diagnosis. Our team hopes to show the power of positive perspective as we celebrate the tremendous life Joe lived.
The names of the runners that will be running for Team Beneducci this year are:
