A MESSAGE FROM Shannon's NYC Marathon Fundraiser
Hi, my name is Shannon, and I’m honored to be running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon representing the Release Recovery Foundation. Not only will this be my first marathon, but I also have the opportunity to represent an organization that I connect with on both a personal and professional level.
For those who know me, you know how passionate I am about sobriety. I’m over 3 years sober, and I also work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in a correctional facility. Working in this field, I have witnessed firsthand how substance use treatment is vital to helping individuals rebuild their lives and find long-term success.
Release Recovery is an organization specializing in addiction treatment, mental health care, and transitional sober living. One of the hardest realities is that treatment and recovery support can be incredibly expensive and out of reach for so many people who want help. Raising money for organizations like Release Recovery helps remove barriers to care and gives more individuals and families access to the support, community, and resources they deserve.
For me, this race is about so much more than crossing a finish line. It’s proof of how far I’ve come from the version of myself who once couldn’t string together 4 sober days.
Every donation, share, and word of encouragement means the world to me! Not only as I train for my first marathon, but as I continue this journey of sobriety and growth.
Thank you for supporting me, supporting recovery, and reminding people they are never alone.
