A MESSAGE FROM Peace
I’m running my first marathon this year—the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon—with Team New Neighbors in support of refugee and asylum-seeking families building new lives in New York City!
This cause is deeply personal to me. Like many of the families New Neighbors Partnership serves, my own family arrived in the United States as refugees. Our experience of being supported—of not having to begin alone—shapes why this work matters so much.
I am thrilled to take on this new challenge in support of a mission so close to my heart—running each mile in honor of the countless who have journeyed before me, and those building new beginnings today.
New Neighbors Partnership is built on a simple but powerful idea: neighbor to neighbor care. They connect newly arrived families with local partner families who share children’s clothing, offer practical support, and help create a sense of belonging from the very beginning. Last year alone, volunteers shared more than 450 boxes of children’s clothing and supported 623 newcomers from 42 countries.
This isn’t just about meeting basic needs—it’s about building community, dignity, and connection. It’s about making sure families feel seen, supported, and part of something larger than themselves.
I’m aiming to raise $3,600 by race day on November 1, 2026. If this vision of care and community resonates with you, I invite you to be part of it. Your donation—of any size—helps sustain this network of welcome and ensures that families have both the essentials they need and a community they can rely on.
If giving isn’t possible right now, sharing this page with others is another meaningful way to contribute.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me—as I train, run, and support this work of collective care.
