Hey guys! I am going to be racing my first marathon on November 1st and not only my first marathon but the NYC Marathon, which is a huge deal! I’m sure a lot of you know how hard it is to actually get a bib for the NYC Marathon, and I am so grateful to be given this opportunity from Urban Justice Center. This has been a huge goal of mine for forever and I thought, why not now? I kept putting it off for years and working with such an amazing charity was a huge motivation. I will be racing a few days after my 30th birthday and for my birthday this year, I would appreciate any kind of help with reaching my donation goal for UJC.
What I love about Urban Justice’s work is that they are helping close the gap and give those less fortunate opportunities to better their lives and follow dreams that they might have never had the ability to achieve due to their income level or environment. I believe everyone deserves that.
UJC's work alleviates poverty, secures income and family stability, ensures access to healthcare, ends violence, promotes safety, and builds stronger communities. They serve the people who need it most, which include survivors of intimate partner and gender-based violence, homeless LGBTQ youth, victims of human trafficking, people with mental health concerns, and people of color who are disproportionately impacted by the criminal justice system.
Preparing for this marathon is going to be a challenge unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Not only do I have to train, keep my body healthy, and prepare mentally, but also have to fundraise. Any kind of donation (even $5) will make a real, direct difference. If you’re able to contribute, I would be so incredibly grateful.
Running has been one of the biggest and most constant things in my entire life. It has carried me through so many different chapters and challenges and has truly shaped who I am today.
I also want to do this marathon to make my dad proud. He has always been my biggest supporter throughout my running career. Racing Division I track & cross country was a life test of its own, and for a long time, running a marathon always seemed so far out of the realm. It took a long time to start falling in love with running again, and training for this marathon has helped me find that. The fact that I’m finally going to achieve this goal, and in NYC, just after turning 30, is something I’m beyond excited about.
Thank you so much for following along, supporting me, donating, sharing, or even just cheering me on. It truly means more than you know. Let’s get it.
