A MESSAGE FROM Melinda’s Fundraising for the Fund for Public Health in NYC
I’m running the 2026 New York City Marathon with Fund for Public Health NYC, and this one feels bigger than just a race.
Running has always been personal for me. When my mom was in her last year of life battling colon cancer, I created and ran my own marathon through New York City so she could watch me. It became one of the last meaningful moments we shared, and ever since, running has been my way of staying connected to her.
Since then, my relationship with health has continued to evolve. As a woman recently diagnosed with endometriosis (just had surgery this year!), I’ve experienced firsthand how hard it can be to feel heard, to access the right care, and to navigate a system that doesn’t always show up equally for everyone.
That’s why I chose to run with the Fund for Public Health NYC. Their work directly supports programs that expand access to care, address health inequities, and strengthen the well-being of communities across New York City.
Every mile I run is for my mom, for my own journey, and for the countless New Yorkers who deserve access to quality, compassionate care. If you’re able to support, thank you for being part of something that goes far beyond race day for me.
Love Always,
Melinda
