I am thrilled and honored to be running the TCS New York City Marathon with the Release Foundation! This is not just my first marathon, but a personal journey of recovery, strength, and hope.
On February 12, 2023, I made the decision to get sober from alcohol, and since then, I have experienced a transformation that has impacted every part of my life. Sobriety has given me the clarity, energy, and self-confidence to push myself further than I ever thought possible. As an avid runner for many years, I’ve always enjoyed hitting the pavement, but sobriety has allowed me to go beyond what I once believed were my limits. The Spring Lake 5 used to be the longest distance I could fathom running, but I now run five miles on a frequent basis and ran three half marathons in 2023 alone.
My passion for running has now become intertwined with my commitment to raising awareness and support for recovery. As I set the goal of running the marathon, I am not just running for myself, but for those whose lives have been impacted by substance use disorder and mental health challenges.
Every dollar I raise will help someone who is ready to take the first step toward recovery, just as I did over two years ago. Your support means the world to me and to the countless individuals who will benefit from this vital resource.
Thank you for supporting me on this journey—together, we can make a difference, one step at a time.
