A MESSAGE FROM Meagan
Mental health is close to my heart. I’m running the New York City Marathon with NAMI-NYC Metro in honor of my mom's spirit, to break the stigma around mental health, and to test my own strength in a way I never have before.
This is personal for me. I struggle with depression myself. I know what it feels like to carry something heavy that no one else can see. And I’m also running in honor of my mom, who died by suicide.
Mental health isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something that affects real people, real families, every single day. Organizations like NAMI-NYC Metro exist to make sure people don’t have to go through it alone. They provide free support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by mental illness. That matters. Because no one should feel like there’s no way out. No one should feel like they have to suffer in silence.
So I’m running 26.2 miles for the conversations we’re afraid to have. For the people who are still here. And for the ones we’ve lost. If you’re able to donate or share, it would mean everything. If you or someone you know needs help, contact the NAMI-NYC Helpline at 212-684-3264 or helpline@naminyc.org. You are not alone.
