A MESSAGE FROM Matthew's NYC Marathon Fundraiser
A goal of running 1,200 miles in 2026 has quickly turned into so much more. I am extremely honored to be running the 2026 New York City Marathon with the Release Recovery Foundation Team and raise money for those who need help just like I did.
Today, being sober for 3 1/2 years, I know firsthand how hard it is to put down the drink and build a new life free from alcohol. I share my story to not only give hope to those still struggling but to their families as well. I was introduced to Release Recovery in 2022 when I was a client at one of the Men's Transitional living houses, I was given this opportunity because I was awarded a scholarship from The Ben Meyer Recovery Foundation. Just like The Release Recovery Foundation they support people in recovery and help to reduce the stigma of addiction and recovery.
The Release Foundation scholarship model enables rapid placement into treatment, a clear financial plan, and a roadmap to career readiness. They stand with all who are ready to begin their journey toward a life worth living.
Thank you for supporting me as we support those individuals and families still battling this disease
