A MESSAGE FROM Margie's First Full Marathon!
Friends and family, I want to share something deeply personal with you. Many of you remember how my husband George was at every single one of my races—and pinning my bib like it was part of our ritual. When he passed in 2019, I lost the desire to run; it just didn’t feel the same without him. But my Black Girls RUN! Dallas sisters showed up for me in a way I’ll never forget—they came to his funeral, stood beside me, and kept encouraging me to get back out there. Even when I didn’t want to, they loved me through it until I found my way back.
Because of my Sole Sisters, I started moving again—first running, then adding swimming and cycling, and eventually stepping into triathlons. As a New York City girl, I always said if I ever ran a marathon, it would be NYC—my one and done. Now I have the opportunity to do it while raising funds for the Black Girls RUN! Foundation, a sisterhood that truly carried me through one of the hardest times in my life. Running through all five boroughs, through the streets that shaped me, means everything. If you feel led to support me on this journey, I would be so grateful—this race is about love, healing, and honoring both where I come from and the people who helped me keep going. Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon.
