A MESSAGE FROM Maddex NY Marathon Fundraising Page
Adoption has always been an important part of my life. It's not just an abstract idea, it's shaped who I am through real experiences. When I was around 10 years old, my family adopted my brother Jett. I could understand what was happening, and I remember that time vividly. I recall the waiting, the discussions, and the moment he officially became my brother. It wasn’t just a fleeting moment, it changed our family in a profound way, and I was able to fully grasp it.
Adoption is also personal to me in another way. My dad adopted me. Because of that, supporting adoption isn’t just a cause, it’s part of my identity.
Running for Gladney has been a constant in my family too. My mom, dad, aunt, and grandma have all completed the New York City Marathon. Now, I have the chance to follow that path. However, I want my race to mean more than just keeping a tradition alive.
I am running for Gladney because I have seen the difference adoption can make in a family. It’s not only about one moment or one person, it’s about building something lasting that changes lives.
To me, adoption embodies the idea of being chosen and welcomed into a family with purpose. This viewpoint has shaped how I see my life and the relationships that matter most to me.
This marathon is more than just a race. It symbolizes my origins, my beliefs, and the people who have influenced me. Each mile is an opportunity to honor my family’s story and give back to something that has given so much to mine.
