A MESSAGE FROM Karina Del Toro
Running has been a huge part of my life since high school. What started as a hobby quickly became something much more meaningful to me, a way to clear my mind, feel grounded, and reconnect with myself. I’ve never been someone focused on pace, rankings, or competition. For me, running has always been about joy, community, and the mental relief it brings.
This year, I’m incredibly honored to be running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon with the Urban Justice Center, an organization that works to support and empower some of New York City’s most vulnerable communities through legal services, advocacy, education, and grassroots organizing. Their work helps people facing poverty, housing insecurity, discrimination, and systemic injustice access the support and resources they deserve.
Supporting vulnerable communities has always been deeply important to me. Since becoming a CASA in my local community, I’ve wanted to use my time and energy to advocate for people who deserve to feel protected, heard, and supported. Being able to combine that passion with something I genuinely love feels incredibly special.
By supporting my fundraising journey, you’re not just helping me cross the finish line in NYC, you’re directly supporting the Urban Justice Center’s mission to provide advocacy, resources, and opportunities to people who need them most. Every donation helps make a real impact in someone’s life, and truly no donation is too small. I’m so grateful to everyone who chooses to be part of this journey with me.
