Thank you so much for your support of the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation as I honor the amazing legacy of my cousin, Patrick
Robinson.
While in high school, Patrick competed in cross
country, skiing, and ultimate Frisbee. He played trumpet and French horn in the
band, participated in Destination Imagination and travelled abroad with the
German American Partnership Program. He was in many honor societies and
achieved his Eagle rank in the Boy Scouts of America. After high school he
received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. He also
continued to lead an active lifestyle: running, biking, hiking, camping and
skiing. Patrick was a volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was
often the keynote speakers for “Patrick’s Patrollers” events and other CFF
fundraisers. In short, he lived his life to the fullest and made life better
for everyone around him.
Patrick lived more in his 28 years than many of us
do in 100. But Patrick never had the opportunity to marry the love of his
life. He never had the chance to meet my children or watch as his two
younger brothers grew into the incredible men they are today.
Patrick’s passing still affects me to this day, but
I know that he would not want us to dwell on the loss. He would want us to
celebrate our life, live life to the fullest as he did, and take advantage of
all that our good health has to offer.
I remember Patrick was most looking forward to the
ability to run without fear of breathing. While he was not ever able to achieve
that dream, I hope to help fulfill a small part of that legacy by raising funds
for CFF through the NYC Marathon. While I know how big of a challenge 26.2
miles is, I know that Patrick will be there to guide me and inspire me along
the way.
