Hello and welcome!! I am so excited to run the 2026 NYC Marathon this year with The Sports Museum Team and New Balance in support of their Boston vs. Bullies Program, and I am proud to share that I will be running in honor of my dad, Rick Jarvis Jr.
A quick story: I ran my first and only marathon in Milan in 2022 and swore never to do it again. For one, I felt that the race was much too long. And secondly, I encountered a few tough situational hurdles, including but not limited to: being late to the start line (the instructions were all in Italian), and experiencing the after effects of having rediscovered cheese in the days leading up to the race (delicious, but I really am lactose intolerant).
This year, however, I've gotten the opportunity to support an organization that means a lot to me and to run in New York City, my beloved city of residence. So... I am giving marathoning another shot :)
My goal is to both finish the 26.2 miles without a hitch (no lactose until POST race this time) and to raise $5,000 to support Boston vs. Bullies.
My dad, who passed in 2020, was a lifelong kid in the best way. He dedicated much of his time to early childhood education initiatives in the Boston area and to nonprofit programs centered around sports and young people. Appropriately, the first race I ran after my high school 400-meter glory days (and my first foray into running longer than 60 seconds) was a charity 5K my dad signed me up for when he accompanied me to California for my college move-in.
Boston vs. Bullies is a program that I know he'd be proud to support. It uses the power of Boston sports to help kids understand bullying and learn how to stand up for both themselves and one another, and it is offered to schools and after-school programs free of charge.
Running has always meant a lot to me, especially the past few years, so I am incredibly grateful to support this organization and would love your help in getting to the starting line and reaching my $5,000 goal.
Thank you for supporting me and Boston vs. Bullies, and thank you to The Sports Museum and New Balance for helping make this program and marathon team possible.
See you all on the open road!
