After running the 2025 TCS NYC Marathon for Planned Parenthood of Greater New York and facing one of the most mentally and physically challenging days of my life, I thought I’d be taking a break from big races. But almost immediately, I knew I wasn’t done.
Training for and running the marathon while fundraising for PPGNY changed my running journey in a way I didn’t expect. I knew raising money for reproductive healthcare mattered to me, but I didn’t realize how deeply it would carry me through the race itself. During the hardest moments, when my body wanted to quit, I kept thinking about every donation, every message of support, and the fact that each mile was tied to something so much bigger than me. It genuinely kept me going. I cried more than once thinking about it.
Throughout that fundraising experience, something else unexpected happened. As people asked about my training, my runs, and race day, those conversations naturally turned into conversations about reproductive healthcare and why this cause matters so much to me. Fundraising didn’t just support the race. It opened the door to honest, meaningful discussions that so many people are craving but don’t always know how to start.
So when the opportunity came to run again for PPGNY, it felt like an easy yes.
Through my work, I talk every day with people navigating dating, sex, relationships, and healthcare, and I hear firsthand how difficult it can be to access care that should be basic and guaranteed. Birth control. Abortion services. Cancer screenings. Gender-affirming care. For so many, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is the only place they can turn.
I’m running the United Half on March 15th because reproductive healthcare is a human right, and because access to that care is still not guaranteed. No one should have to choose between their health and their finances.
This race is another chance to show up for a cause that means so much to me. Every mile I run is for those who have had to fight for the care they deserve.
Thank you for being part of this with me, whether you donate, share, or cheer me on. It truly means more than I can put into words. 💜🏃♀️
