Running the 2026 New York City Marathon is more than a personal goal for me — it’s a chance to run for something that has deeply shaped my life.
My name is Haylie Patten-Potter, and I’ve completed two marathons before, but this one carries a much deeper purpose. I’m proud to be running with Answer the Call, an organization that provides critical financial assistance to the families of fallen and injured firefighters and first responders.
This cause is incredibly personal to me. My wife is a firefighter in Colorado and serves on her department’s peer support team, supporting mental health and wellness for fellow firefighters. Through her work and our life together, I’ve seen firsthand the strength, sacrifice, and community that define the fire service — and how essential family support is behind every firefighter.
I’m running to honor the families who have experienced unimaginable loss and to support the mission of Answer the Call so they’re never alone in those moments.
