A MESSAGE FROM Bella O'Grady's Fundraising Page
On 2 October 2022, the heart of our family, my beautiful baby brother Xavier suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at the end of the Melbourne Half Marathon and died. To say the landscape of my life and my family's life has changed - is an understatement.
Xav was pure magic. He lived more in his short 20 years than some people do in their lifetime. While we still do not have answers as to why the largest part of Xav, his heart, failed him, I hope to honour him for the rest of my life by keeping other hearts beating.
The day before I lost my brother, I spoke about my dream of one day living overseas. On 2 November 2025, 3 years and one month after the worst day of my life, I plan on running my first marathon, in New York City where I have moved to - for Xav.
I hope to raise $4000USD towards housing the families of those who have a family member requiring treatment for congenital heart disease and do not have the accessibility to be close by - through Live 4 Evan.
Xav's heart beats every day. Through my Dad, my Mum, my sister and I. It also beats through every person who remembers him, says his name and feels him in their heart.
