A MESSAGE FROM Randi's Fundraising page
Running for Healing, Hope, and a Cure
I’ve been a runner for most of my life, but I didn’t realize just how powerful it could be until tragedy struck. I lost my first husband when we were just 29. At the time, I was pregnant, and running—once such a central part of my life—felt out of reach. But when I eventually laced up my shoes again, running became my lifeline. It gave me peace, purpose, and a way to process unimaginable grief.
In those early days, I met Jodi—a fellow widow whose husband had passed away from a brain tumor. We instantly connected and have since run hundreds of miles together. Through our friendship, I’ve come to understand the devastating impact of brain cancer—not just on patients, but on families, futures, and everyday life.
Several years later, I remarried and had another child. Life brought joy again, but it also brought another reminder of how fragile things can be. A few years after our wedding, our dear friend Todd was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. Thankfully, it was operable—but it required a long, complex surgery. Todd and his family mean the world to us, and we’re beyond grateful he’s healthy today.
This year, I’m honored to be running the marathon alongside Todd and with the incredible team from the Brain Tumor Foundation (BTF). I feel so inspired training with Jodi, supporting this cause in Todd’s honor, and running for all the families who are still in the fight.
In 2017, I ran the NYC Marathon in memory of my first husband—it was deeply personal and healing. Now, I’m running with the BTF to raise funds, awareness, and hope. And as an extra special bonus, I’ll be joining Jodi for the 2026 Paris Marathon to celebrate her milestone birthday!
Please consider supporting my journey and helping the Brain Tumor Foundation continue their life-saving work. Every step I take is for those who can’t—and every dollar brings us closer to a cure.
With gratitude,
Randi
