A MESSAGE FROM Running for Cancer Research and Survivor Support with EMF
Hi friends, family, and strangers. My name is Esteban and I am going to run the New York City Marathon to raise funds for the Expect Miracles Foundation.
6 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare, irregular cancer (their words, not mine). After chemo and surgery, I was thankfully able to beat it and fully recover, but what people often forget is what comes next.
After completing treatment, I found myself navigating not just the physical recovery, but the financial weight that came with it. At that point, even seeing a routine bill felt defeating. The Samfund grant from Expect Miracles changed that. It gave me breathing room at a moment when I needed it most and reminded me that there was light at the end of the tunnel.
That support didn't just help me stay afloat. It gave me the space to reimagine what my future could look like and pursue an entirely new career path, the one I'm on today. I wouldn't be here without it.
But this run isn't only about my story. I'm also running to honor the family members I've lost to cancer, and to make meaningful use of the second chance I was given. Every mile is a way to give back in their name.
If you're able to contribute, know that your donation goes directly toward giving another young person that same breathing room, the kind that changes everything.
