A MESSAGE FROM Miles for Her: Yarizza Runs for Ovarian Cancer Awareness
I chose this charity to honor my late aunt who passed away from cervical cancer in 2007. Her diagnosis was my first real encounter with cancer and the profound impact it has on a family. Running the NYC Marathon, A WORLD MAJOR - with Team Tell Every Amazing Lady - allows me to honor her memory while supporting awareness, research, and advocacy for women’s health.
I’m running to honor my family, celebrate their strength, and prove to myself what is possible through discipline and heart surrounded by the energy and resilience of my home city - New York.
My hope is that preventative testing and screenings can become more accessible for young women because early detection should not depend on symptoms alone. I, myself, have had to vouch for more testings at a young age. Women deserve the opportunity to understand and protect their health before a crisis arises. So, if I can influence every amazing lady in this world - I would advise that we listen to our bodies. Advocate for your health, and never feel afraid to ask questions. Your wellbeing matters. And to those who have faced this disease, or supported someone who has, your strength is seen and deeply inspiring. Let’s keep pushing forward, together.
