A MESSAGE FROM Mary’s Support Page!
Despite running on and off all my life, I never loved running until I decided to learn to do it properly. This lead me to start from scratch and learn what worked for me. After a couple of years of being a casual runner who never wanted to race, I began working at a Fleet Feet in New York City where I learned the ins and outs of gear, apparel, and what helped runners of all types feel comfortable during their workouts. It was while working there during the marathon that I decided that I wanted to run a marathon and NYC became my dream. After moving back to West Virginia, I signed up for and ran the Philadelphia Marathon. I had a blast! The run specialty store where I currently work in Appalachia also provides shoes and gear to our little underserved community and that’s why it’s an honor to be a part of the Bras for Girls team. Their mission in providing the right gear so that those who want to play the sport or run the race can. I know firsthand working with runners and being a bra wearer myself how crucial good support is to comfort and sustainability as an athlete. Helping girls fall in love with sports and sharing the joy of getting outside, feeling strong, and supported is what Bras for Girls and now I’m able to do. It’s an honor to be a part of this team and this race.
