A MESSAGE FROM Daniel Kim's NYC Marathon Fundraising Page
Growing up, I was never “the runner.” I still remember dreading the mile run in gym class, convinced that running — let alone a marathon — was simply not something I could do.
Earlier this year, I crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon, and it changed the way I think about resilience.
It taught me that progress rarely comes from one big breakthrough; it comes from consistently showing up, especially on the days when you would rather stop.
This November, I’m taking on 26.2 miles again at the New York City Marathon, once again raising money for Next Step. Next Step supports teens and young adults living with cancer and other serious illnesses, helping them rebuild community, confidence, and a sense of possibility during a time when life can feel profoundly interrupted.

Running a marathon is a privilege, and the discomfort is temporary. For the young people supported by Next Step, resilience is a daily practice. I’m proud to run NYC in their honor, and I’d be incredibly grateful for your support — whether that means sponsoring a few miles or helping fund an experience that can change someone’s year.
