A MESSAGE FROM Dominic
Dear Community--
In 2020, during the height of COVID, I ballooned up to nearly 280 pounds. I was living with many health complications. I had trouble getting off the couch. I was miserable. I took a look around, looked at my young daughter, and took a long and hard look in the mirror.
I knew I needed to make changes, or my life was at risk.
It took me a long time to reckon with my reality. But I started making changes, and I turned things around. Drastically. I worked hard on my physical health, mental health, nutrition, and found community.
Two years later: I now weigh 174 pounds. I started running. And while I still deal with health issues, I feel as good as ever. To date, I've completed 5 half marathons, and have been working my way to a full. I have a great arts career at Queens Theatre. I'm an active dad. But I still have goals I need to accomplish.
I'm proud to announce I'm running my first NYRR New York City Marathon, my first ever full marathon, for Friends of Firefighters.
They are an amazing not-for-profit organization that provides independent, confidential, and free mental health counseling and wellness services to active and retired FDNY firefighters and their family members. They took me onto their marathon and fundraising team, with a chance meeting in Brooklyn a few months ago.
I get to run the marathon, and I get to help raise $2,500 for their mission.
And I need your help!
Please donate to this page. Support my first marathon. Support FoF's mission.
I'd be grateful for donations large and small. (I must hit 2.5k by Nov 28 or I pay the balance. So help a brother out!)
Help me raise $2,500 dollars.
Let's GOOOOOO!
Love, Respect, & Running,
Dominic Antonio D'Andrea
