A MESSAGE FROM Hannah's fundraising page
This November, I will be running the NYC Marathon to raise money for the Release Recovery Foundation. The Release Recovery Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources and scholarships to individuals seeking treatment for substance abuse and mental illness. My fundraising efforts will go directly to treatment expenses - both inpatient and outpatient centers, therapists, psychologists, and recovery coaches. The foundation works to bring awareness and education to the topics of substance abuse and mental illness, specifically amongst college aged individuals.
My fundraising and running efforts are in memory of a dear family friend, Ryan Latham. He was a bright, funny, and loving young man studying computer science at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Ryan struggled with addiction and mental illness throughout high school and college, ultimately losing his battle in Spring 2021, and leaving an indescribable absence in the lives of his loved ones. His memory will be honored throughout my marathon experience, as I fundraise for young people who are also battling addiction like Ryan did. My hope is to help make a change in the journey of someone’s recovery and inspire conversation about the realities of addiction.
I appreciate all donations and support as I tackle the challenge of running my first marathon! No amount is too small :)
