It is an incredible honor to run the 2026 New York City Marathon as a member of Team Glen Doherty in support of the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation (GDMF).
GDMF was established in honor of Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL and security operator who was one of four Americans killed during the terrorist attacks on the U.S. Diplomatic Compound and CIA Annex in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012. When the attacks began, Glen voluntarily flew from Tripoli to Benghazi to reinforce the team under siege. Although he had already accepted a new job and this was intended to be his final deployment as a security operator with the CIA's Global Response Staff, he chose to serve one last mission. Glen was killed by a mortar round during the attacks, making the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Today, the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation honors Glen's legacy by standing beside Special Operations veterans as they transition from military service to civilian life. By providing scholarships, education, and career development resources, GDMF empowers Special Operations veterans to successfully transition into civilian life while continuing to lead lives defined by purpose, leadership, and service. By investing in our nation's heroes and their families, GDMF ensures that their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment continue to create a lasting legacy.
Every contribution, regardless of its size, helps open doors for Special Operations veterans pursuing education, new careers, and continued service to their communities. It is a meaningful way to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country while empowering them to thrive in the next chapter of their lives.
