On November 1st, I'll be running my first New York City Marathon. But more than a personal milestone, this race is about something that runs deeper.
This past March, I celebrated 10 years of sobriety. Running has been one of the things that has carried me through - it gives me structure and a way to show up for myself.
I grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Positive Directions is a hometown organization that has been supporting people through addiction and mental health challenges for decades. Couldn't think of a better bib to wear for these 26.2 miles.
Recovery doesn't happen alone. It takes the right resources and a community that shows up. Every dollar you donate helps make sure that support is there for the next person who needs it.
Let's do this!
