This November, I'll be taking on the challenge of running the New York City Marathon in support of the Aisling Irish Community Center.
As an Irish person living and working in New York, I've seen first-hand the important role the Aisling Center plays in supporting the Irish community across the city. From helping newly arrived immigrants find their feet, to providing vital services for older adults, young people, and families, the Aisling Center is a lifeline for so many.
Every mile I run will help fund programmes that make a real difference. These include weekly meals and social activities for senior adults, youth development initiatives such as Foroige and Leadership for Life, as well as essential services including social work support, counselling, and Medicare assistance provided free of charge to those who need them.
I've committed to raising $3,000 for this incredible organisation, and I'd be hugely grateful for any support you can give. Every donation, no matter the size, helps strengthen our community and ensures these services remain available to those who rely on them.
Training for a marathon is a challenge, but it pales in comparison to the challenges many people face every day. Knowing that each mile can help support the work of the Aisling Center will keep me motivated all the way to the finish line.
Thank you for your support and for being part of this journey with me. Let's make every mile count. 🍀
