A MESSAGE FROM Release Recovery NYC Marathon Fundraising page - Will Boardman
In October of 2018, my life changed when I went to treatment - thanks to the support of my family, friends, and work colleagues. As I approach the anniversary of my 4th year of sobriety this fall, I personally know how instrumental those early days of my recovery were in forming the foundation that accelerated my wildly rewarding and overwhelmingly positive journey in sobriety.
I am incredibly grateful for those who showed up for me in my darkest hour. I am committing to helping others also get the opportunity to build their own strong foundations in recovery by raising money for the Release Recovery Foundation - whose mission is to help support people from underserved communities who may not have the resources for proven treatments for substance abuse and mental disorders. Release Recovery Foundation offers scholarships to bridge the gap between what people can afford and what they need to transform their lives.
I am passionate about recovery and sobriety -- I couldn't be more humbled, excited and honored to raise money for the cause and run the 2022 NYC Marathon as part of the Release Recovery team.

Last year, the organization had 61 runners complete the NYC Marathon and raised over $400,000.00 for those who suffer from mental illness and/or substance abuse disorder. This year, the organization's goal is to help break $1,000,000.00.
The funds we’re raising for the Foundation will go directly towards grants for candidates who would never otherwise get access to world class inpatient treatment centers and a variety of support services to rebuild their lives. RRF experts have an exhaustive screening process and relationships with top rehabs to identify candidates and fund the costs of treatment.
Release Recovery Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all who are ready and willing to seek professional treatment, are able. Substance abuse and mental illness destroys the lives of too many people from underserved communities who may not have the resources for proven treatments. Release Recovery Foundation offers scholarships to bridge the gap between what people can afford and what they need to transform their lives, regardless of race, gender, and/or sexual orientation.
Please consider making a donation, as I know from my own experience that given the opportunity and resources to succeed, lives can be rebuilt, transformed and empowered through recovery.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
