A MESSAGE FROM Phoebe's Strong Girls United Fundraising Page
Hello, My name is Phoebe Slovenski and I will be running the NYC half marathon in March. I decided to set this as a goal to not only challenge myself but to empower strong girls everywhere. I have grown up playing sports. In high school, I focused on competing in track and volleyball then went on to compete at the University of Southern Maine. After many games and meets my injuries became worse not only physically but also mentally draining. I decided to take a step back from competing and spend time healing. I'm focusing on my health and finding my love for running and lifting again. I have always found running to be my favorite way to clear my mind. My injuries created a set back but I am working my way back to hopefully one day competing again. I hope to show young girls that sometimes the best thing to do is focus on your well-being and find a new passion and go for it! Running a half marathon has always been a goal of mine and I hope to work my way up to a full marathon in the future. As my first half marathon, I am beyond excited to run for the Strong Girls United team. All donations are greatly appreciated, everything helps! Thank you!
