A MESSAGE FROM Team Harris
I am a wife, a mom, a nurse, and a brain aneurysm survivor. On March 12, 2018 I had a craniotomy to clip my brain aneurysm. I was terrified of what was to come, but as a nurse at Orlando Health I was so confident that I was going to receive the best care possible. My Neurosurgeon Dr. Vachhani and his Nurse Practitioner Jill were absolutely fantastic and walked my family and I through all the possibilities. I could not have asked for a better team. Because of the great Doctors and Nurses at Orlando Health and the support of my family I returned to work as a PACU nurse just 5 weeks after my surgery.
Before I had my surgery I was a runner and had run several marathons, but didn’t think I would ever be doing that again. But my son Conner challenged me last year. I like to prove to my kids that you can do anything, so I reached out to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation to see if we could join their team to run in The New York City Marathon. We received an email a couple months ago telling Conner and I we were on the team! We are so excited!
Please support Conner and I as we run in the TCS New York City Marathon to raise awareness of brain aneurysms and raise funds for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. 1 in 50 people has an unruptured aneurysm. That equals 6.5 million people in the United States. 30,000 people in the U.S. suffer a rupture each year and half of those do not survive. Help me as I strive to change those statistics by helping the BAF continue their mission to spread awareness and save lives. Brain aneurysms are beatable and treatable if detected early. Awareness can save lives!
