A MESSAGE FROM Deborah
've spent most of my career trying to answer one question:
Can we turn what we learn about biology into something that changes a person's life?
For more than 30 years, I've worked in drug discovery and development—searching for new targets, understanding disease biology, developing medicines and helping move promising ideas toward patients.
On November 1, I'm taking that mission somewhere very different.
I'm running the 2026 New York City Marathon to raise money for the Propionic Acidemia Foundation, which funds research aimed at finding better treatments—and ultimately a cure—for propionic acidemia, a rare genetic metabolic disease.
For me, this isn't just another marathon.
It's a chance to put my feet behind something I've spent my professional life believing in:
Science can change lives. And research needs people willing to invest in the possibility.
My goal is to raise at least $3,000 over the next five weeks.
If you'd like to be part of it, I'd be incredibly grateful for your support.
