A MESSAGE FROM Charlie's Fundraising Page
Hi!
I'm excited to be running the TCS New York City Marathon for the first time this November with Team YMCA Green Witches. I'm running to support the YMCA of Greenwich's youth sports, swim programs, wellness initiatives and community programs (the running part is on me). Please help me contribute to this incredible nonprofit that supports the entire community.
I've been a member of the YMCA of Greenwich for many years. I've logged more laps in their Olympic-sized pool than many marathons, and it supports the whole community — from swim lessons for kids to wellness programs for families and diverse programs for adults. For 110 years, the Y in Greenwich has been woven into their community - helping children discover their potential, supporting families in times of need, and providing a place where people of all ages can belong. They are committed to ensuing that every individual.- regardless of age, income or background - has the opportunity to grow thrive and feel connected. It's so much more than just a gym.
My love of running started right after college, when I grabbed my shoes and hit the paths and roads around Central Park as a way to stay active, see the sights and avoid atrophy. What started as a practical has only progressed. These days, running is how I explore the world — whenever I travel for work or fun, I bring shoes to run. There's no better way to really *see* a city than on foot at 6 a.m. before anyone else is awake.
That passion has taken me through many, many miles including, too many 5k's to count, a bunch of half-marathons and several 70.3 triathlons, and now it's time for a full marathon. The NYC Marathon has been on my list for a couple decades — running through the city where it all started for me feels like a full-circle moment. And what better way to tackle 26.2 miles than for the Y where I train.
As part of this marathon journey, I'm raising **$5,000** to support the YMCA's youth sports, swim programs, wellness initiatives, and community programs.
**Here's how you can help:**
Every dollar you donate goes directly to making sure more families in our community have access to these life-changing programs. Whether it's $25 to support kids learning to swim, $50 towards the Little Olympians or Youth Basketball, or $100 to subsidize life guarding programs — it compounds and it all matters.
So please donate to support the YMCA of Greenwich, I'd be very grateful and so will all of the people who use their programs and facilities. And if donating doesn't work right now, sharing this page helps.
Thank you for cheering me on — both on the course and for the Y. See you at the finish line!
