A MESSAGE FROM Kelly's Fundraising Page
My name is Kelly, and I am running the 2026 NYC marathon on behalf of my niece, Molly—a smart, tenacious little spitfire who tackles life with grit, curiosity, and the most adorable smile.
Molly had her first seizure at the age of 5 months. She has had several seizures since, typically triggered by heat, illness, and fatigue. She has followed up with some incredible pediatric neurologists and was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, which is a rare, severe form of pediatric epilepsy. The spectrum for function and prognosis varies widely, and no one really knows what the future holds. What we do know though, is that Molly is surrounded by an incredible network of family and friends, who will support her through all of life's challenges and triumphs.
When the miles get hard and my legs want to quit, I’ll be thinking of Molly’s determination and her ability to rise to every challenge. Every mile I run is for her courage in the face of adversity, and for the joy she brings, even on the hardest days. I run in support of my brother and sister-in-law, whose strength, love, and relentless advocacy make them truly incredible parents. This run is also for the Dravet Syndrome Foundation and the vital research and awareness they advocate for, so families like ours can hold onto hope for better treatments and brighter futures.
Your donation puts me one step closer to meeting my goal and it will make a huge difference in those living with Dravet Syndrome!
