I’m a firm believer that if you can run a mile, then you can run a 5K, and if you can run a 5K you can run a 10K. If you can run a 10K then you can run a half marathon. If you can run a half marathon you can trick yourself into signing up for a full marathon only to endure months of grueling training and by the time you want to give up you think to yourself “ugh I might as well finish and run the full marathon” and then you run and finish a full marathon and decide yeah maybe I don’t need to run a full marathon ever again.
I once joined my high school cross country team as a senior because I didn’t have enough PE credits to graduate. I know. Embarrassing. I came in dead last in the senior 5K at the start of the season. I remember ending that chapter of my life never running more than a 5K throughout my college years. Then I met a very motivated and inspiring group of people who were a) wayyy faster than me and b) consistent runners. I found myself running a 10K race in less than 6 months. Running is so much better with friends than alone (at least for me)
That started my journey of running and now I’ve ran 3 half marathons, 1 full marathon, and I’m starting the 9+1 program this year to run the NYC marathon in 2027.
I’m so excited to share with y’all an amazing partnership I’ve started with an organization that resonated deeply with me.
As some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed, fought, and eventually passed away from ovarian cancer. What you may not know is that ovarian cancer is TOUGH to diagnose and aggressively hard to keep in remission. That’s why I’ve teamed up with Tell Every Amazing Lady (aka TEAL) to fundraise money that will go towards increasing awareness about ovarian cancer, research for improving diagnostics of this elusive cancer, and provide grief support for those who have lost a loved one to ovarian cancer (like myself)
Any amount is helpful, so please donate if you’re willing and able.
