I am thrilled to be training and running for a cause near and dear to my heart. I have run many races including 3 marathons long ago, several ½ marathons, many triathlons and even two half-ironman triathlons, but this is my first time running for a cause. First and foremost I am running for my “Gladney son,” Tad. Tad joined our family in 2013 and is an avid runner. I have 4 adopted children that participated in track and field or cross-country and I run for them and all children who have found forever families...or who will find them in the future. As an added bonus, my oldest son lives in what he calls, “the greatest city in the universe!” [aka New York City!!], making this race extra special for me - to run through his 'neighborhood'!
Through Gladney, I was introduced to Superkids. As a pediatrician, I have participated in many Gladney Superkids trips to China and Taiwan. To partner with orphanage staff and in country foster families to care for the children is a privilege. To then be able to advocate for kids to find forever families is priceless. I have chosen to run to support Superkids and its mission.
