A MESSAGE FROM Sheena's Marathon for Sight (Eye will Survive!)
I’m excited to share that I’m running this year’s NYC Marathon for the Chris Klug Foundation (CKF)! I’m especially thrilled to complete my first marathon in the city that shaped me into an eye surgeon, while representing an organization dedicated to a cause so close to my heart: inspiring people to register as organ donors.
This race is deeply meaningful to me as it marks the completion of my final year of ophthalmology training as a global ophthalmology fellow—the very path that inspired me to pursue medicine nearly 15 years ago. As a global ophthalmology and cornea fellow, I’ve had the privilege this year of traveling to Guyana, Indonesia, North Macedonia, Myanmar, South Sudan, and Sierra Leone to teach and perform corneal transplants. Across every one of these places, I’ve seen a common thread: corneal transplants restore sight, change lives, and transform entire communities.
Please consider supporting my marathon journey—whether by registering as an organ donor or making a donation. Thank you!!
