A MESSAGE FROM Irish Charity Half Marathon
Hi, I'm Patrick Carew! I was born in Flushing, Queens, and moved to Loughrea, Co. Galway at the age of five. My father arrived in Sunnyside, Queens in the 1980s, where he met my mother and opened his own garage fixing cars. Now, living in Sunnyside myself, I'm working for an Irish construction company. My involvement with the Irish community and my job is what brought me to the Aisling Center. I appreciate the services they offer and even found an apartment through their accommodation's listings.
Four years ago, I had moved to Canada, where I became an active member of the Vancouver Irish Running Crew (VIRC). It was a great way to connect with others who shared my passion for running. Joining this club kick-started my racing journey. My first real race was running the Vancouver Half Marathon, followed by the Brooklyn Half, and I've completed the 9+1 program and was able to run the NYC Full Marathon.
I find the energy around running in New York to be infectious! It's a fantastic way to stay fit, enjoy the outdoors, meet new people, and this is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community. I'm excited to continue my running journey and support the Aisling Center!
