A MESSAGE FROM Ciaran
My name is Ciaran Groarke and I am running the 2025 NYC Half Marathon on March 16th to help raise funds for the Aisling Irish Community Center.
Born and raised in the Bronx to father Stephen Groarke from Cloonfad, Co. Roscommon, and mother Bernadette Rudden from Bawnboy, Co. Cavan,
I live in Yonkers now, not far from the Aisling Center, after buying my parents home in 2019. I love the Woodlawn/ Yonkers community and can be seen most evenings running it’s streets and hills.
I have been involved in some of the community events that take place at the Aisling Center over the last few years and believe it is vital to support our elderly neighbors through meals and social events, as well as providing support to those less fortunate or struggling to find their way.
Previously only running sporadically over the years for fitness, I started persistent training in May of 2024 and have found it tremendously beneficial both physically and mentally. I love the perseverance and commitment that running teaches me and the positive sense of accomplishing goals.
At the Aisling Center, your generosity becomes a lifeline, directly enhancing lives in our community. Each donation ensures that our cherished seniors in the Young @ Heart group experience the joy and connection of a nutritious weekly lunch, while home-bound seniors receive the vital meals they need. Your support also empowers youth through the Foroige Youth Club, Celtic Summer Camp, and Leadership for Life programs, equipping them with essential life skills. Furthermore, you make it possible for those in need to access crucial social work, welfare, and Medicare services at no cost. When you donate, you're not just contributing funds—you're weaving the threads that strengthen and unite our community. Join us in making a difference today.Ready, set, donate!
