This year, I’m running the NYC Marathon for something bigger than the finish line. I’m running for the children and families who wake up every day facing the unimaginable reality of pediatric brain tumors. I’m running for kids who should be on playgrounds, in classrooms, and chasing their dreams—not sitting in hospital rooms fighting for their lives. Through the IronMatt Foundation, I’ve learned just how brave these children are. Their strength is extraordinary. Their families carry a weight no parent should ever have to bear. And yet they keep showing up with courage, hope, and love. Every mile of this 26.2-mile journey will be for them. When the race gets hard, I will think about the kids enduring surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and countless hospital stays. I’ll think about the families who never stop fighting for more time, better treatments, and ultimately a cure. Pediatric brain tumors remain the leading cause of cancer-related death in children, and research funding is still far behind where it needs to be. That’s why this run matters.
