A MESSAGE FROM Alexis' Fundraising Page
When I wasn’t selected for the lottery to run in the 2024 NYC Half Marathon, I was very disappointed. Then I remembered last year, my best friend was able to run it through a charity and thought that was a good way for me to run it this year. While looking at different charities, I came across Solace House and immediately knew this was the one I wanted to be a part of. In 2016, I lost my father to suicide. He was my favorite person and meant the absolute world to me and losing him broke my heart. Whenever my dad walked into a room it was instantly brightened up by his smile and happy go lucky attitude, even though on the inside he was suffering in ways no one could have imagined. I started running in 2020, so even though I know he would be in complete shock at me becoming a runner, I know he would be so proud of me and is cheering me on. Being able to run one of my favorite half marathons through a charity that is so important to me is going to be an amazing experience. Raising awareness for this cause has always been something I was interested in doing and this is the perfect way.
Thank you for supporting Solace House!
