Dear Friends and Family...
A few weeks to go!!!
On March 19th, I will be completing (in true run/walk/crawl Yencho style!) the United Half Marathon in
New York City to support the Children of Promise NYC, a wonderful organization
that provides mentoring and academic support to children of incarcerated
parents. As you may know, these children face unique challenges and are at a
higher risk of poverty, homelessness, and incarceration themselves. By
supporting Children of Promise NYC, we can make a real difference in the lives
of these children and help break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration.
I need your help to reach my fundraising goal of $1,500. I have been an Executive Board member of this group and can share our passion for this mission. Every
dollar counts, and your donation can make a huge impact in the lives of these
children. Your support will help provide after-school programs, summer camps,
and mentoring to children who need it most.
I understand that we are all busy and have many demands on our
time and resources. Many of us can think about teachers, mentors and programs we had in our lives during challenging times as children - many of us also had our parents' support.
Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can make a
real difference in the lives of these children and help create a brighter
future for them. And, in the weeks leading up to the race, I'll be sharing a few more personal updates on what Children of Promise NYC means to me, my personal challenges growing up and how running has been a lifelong tool for me for better days.
With sincere gratitude,
Sandra Yencho
