A MESSAGE FROM Dominique's Fundraising Page
In September of 2017, just before my 18th birthday, I lost my mother—the most influential, supportive, and free-spirited person in my life. Her battle with ovarian cancer was a whirlwind of emotions, leaving us confused, empty, and blindsided. Through her diagnosis and passing, I struggled to find clarity, but lacing up my sneakers and hitting the pavement has become my way of channeling her free spirit. Running has become my outlet to fill the emptiness and clear the confusion I once felt.
I run for Team Tell Every Amazing Lady® to raise awareness for ovarian cancer—a disease that took my mother and left us all unprepared. My goal is to show others affected by this disease that they are stronger than they realize, and that they have my support—and the support of many others—along the way. By completing a lifelong dream of running the NYC Marathon, I hope to prove to myself that I can honor my mother’s legacy, be an inspiration to others, and offer the strength and support that I once needed.
Through this journey, I want to remind everyone impacted by ovarian cancer that strength isn’t about the speed at which we run, but about having the resilience to keep moving forward, no matter the challenges we face.
