Ran 6 Miles Yesterday - Oh boy
4/17/2025 Yesterday, I decided to lace up my running shoes and hit the pavement for a 6-mile run—the first time I've done that in years! As I was running, my primary focus was on not getting hit by cars. Honestly, this felt like a real-life game of Frogger. If it were, I was playing on HARD mode because I was dealing with drivers on Long Island. If you haven't driven in, I mean, on Long Island in a while, do yourself a favor, dont. On top of this, I also had to fight the urge to not trip over all the raised concrete surfaces that seemed to pop up out of nowhere. It was like an obstacle course designed by someone with a twisted sense of humor. If you're new here and don't know, I fall a lot when I run. If I asked you to name a better duo than concrete and my knees, you couldn't. I know I know you're probably thinking what about Kobe and Shaq, or Bird and McHale? Trust me, as we go through this journey together, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Anyway, despite the challenges, I managed to complete the run without any major incidents. My legs are sore, but my spirit is high. Here's to more runs and fewer near-misses with traffic! Best, Patrick

A MESSAGE FROM Patrick Halpin fundraising for the Fund for Public Health in NYC
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon fundraising. I am fundraising for the Fund for Public Health in NYC (FPHNYC). As the non-profit partner of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, FPHNYC is at the forefront of developing programs to improve maternal health, address chronic disease, expand youth mental health care, COVID-19, respond to the health effects of climate change, and more. The money raised will help FPHNYC support the NYC Health Department’s Chronic Disease Plan as part of HealthyNYC, a comprehensive campaign to increase life expectancy to exceed 83 years by 2030. The chronic and diet-related disease goals established by HealthyNYC include reducing deaths due to heart- and diabetes-related diseases by 5% by 2030 and deaths due to screenable cancers by 20% by 2030. By donating to my fundraiser, you will help raise funds to expand this strategy and support programs that improve access to essential resources like affordable, nutritious foods, health screenings, and outdoor recreation. Let’s make a difference together! No donation is too small.
