A MESSAGE FROM Andrew + Friends of the Children of New York
Hi Everyone!
This year, I’m proud to be running the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon in
support of Friends of the Children – New York, a nonprofit that provides long-term,professional mentoring to NYC youth facing systemic obstacles. Each child is
paired with a paid, full-time mentor for 12+ years—from kindergarten through high
school graduation—no matter what.
I’m running to help make more stories like Makeba’s possible.
Makeba is a dedicated mom of five from Harlem whose children, Eric and Legacy,
are part of the Friends of the Children – NY community. Eric joined the program
in kindergarten and is now a 17-year-old with a passion for writing and the arts.
His younger sister, Legacy, is thriving in first grade—drawing, dancing, and
dreaming big. With the support of their mentors, both are growing into confident,
capable young people. Makeba describes Friends of the Children as an extended
family that’s helped her kids feel safe, supported, and seen.
